Congratulations President Obama

President Obama

Congratulations to President Obama on winning a second term after A long, hard campaign. Now back to the tough work of governing.

This was a very challenging campaign and the country was more divided than ever. But Obama reminded us: "What makes America exceptional are the bonds that hold together the most diverse nation on earth, the belief that our destiny is shared, that we accept certain obligations to one another. Love, charity, duty, patriotism: that's what makes America great."

Anyone for tennis?

Richard Branson

Played a fantastically entertaining game of tennis while in the Cayman Islands with some old and new friends. It was a real privelige to meet and play with Stefan Edberg and Martina Hingis, both of whom have been number one players in their time, as well as former French Open champion Iva Majoli.

The Cayman Islands

Richard Branson

Some time ago I wrote to the Cayman Islands Government asking questions about its turtle farm and how it was being run. There had been a lot of criticism about its practices and its hygiene. I decided to find out more about it and come to the Cayman Islands for a quick trip. While there I talked to students; played in a celebrity tennis tournament with Stefan Edberg, Greg Norman and Martina Hingis and got to ask and answer a lot of questions.

Global warming makes its mark on US election

"This November, vote for a president who will lead on climate change." It was great to read Michael Bloomberg’s tweet yesterday, endorsing Barack Obama’s election campaign for all the right reasons. As the devastating effects of Superstorm Sandy have shown this past week, climate change is a very real threat to our way of life. With the Mayor of New York highlighting the importance of a strategy to combat it at the very top of US politics, it has given me hope for the future.
