Starlight For The Children

Starlight For The Children

I was honoured to take part in the TV show Starlight For The Children recently, when I got the chance to reach for the skies with a very special person.

Starlight For The Children is a series about Starlight Children’s Foundation, the UK’s leading wish granting charity for children with serious and terminal illnesses.

Gurmukh, a 17-year-old young man who lives in Dartford, Kent, suffers from a form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma.

Faced with a life-threatening illness, Gurmukh had to endure major surgery and the prospect of not being able to achieve his ambition of becoming a pilot.

This is where Starlight For The Children came in. I invited Gurmukh to join me in New Mexico and be part a ‘hard hat’ event at the incredible Spaceport America – with Virgin Galactic’s Spaceship as the star attraction!

Gurmukh and I shared our enthusiasm for flying over breakfast, and he also met legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, before witnessing the historic test flight of the first ever commercial space liner.

I am so pleased that we were able to help Gurmukh in any way, together with Starlight For The Children.

You can watch the episode of Starlight For The Children in the UK on Channel 5, this evening (March 16th) at 7.30pm.

Finally, Starlight For The Children are giving you the chance to win a wish of a lifetime too
. You can enter their special competition until April 30th.
